Terms of service
These terms cover the hosted service at app.getheadroom.co and self-hosted licences we issue. Using either means you accept them.
1. The product
Headroom is seat and spend intelligence for AI coding tools. It receives OpenTelemetry metrics from Claude Code, Grok CLI, Cursor (Enterprise), GitHub Copilot and OpenAI Codex, and shows cost, utilisation and plan recommendations. It is read-only: it does not sit in the request path to any model provider.
Figures are derived from client-reported telemetry and our own price table. They are cost visibility, not an audit of a vendor invoice and not a guarantee of what Anthropic, xAI, Cursor, GitHub or OpenAI will charge you. Someone can turn telemetry off. Repo attribution depends on what the client actually exports — Claude Code honours the installer’s attributes; Grok CLI currently does not.
Plan recommendations compare API-equivalent value to published plan prices. They do not count vendor rate-limit events.
2. Accounts
You create a hosted account by requesting a sign-in link from app.getheadroom.co. A new address starts a team. You must be able to bind the organisation you sign up for. Keep ingest keys secret. You are responsible for the machines that send us telemetry under your keys.
3. Hosted plans
Prices are in US dollars and are listed on the site. Today:
- Free — $0. One billable seat, 30-day view of history.
- Team — $8 per billable seat per month, five-seat minimum. Unlimited history within the retention policy. $80 per seat if paid annually.
- Business — $16 per billable seat per month. The same product as Team, billed as a named commercial tier.
A billable seat is a person (after merges) with at least one session in the period. Ignored seats and machine channels do not bill. A fourteen-day trial needs no card; after that, unpaid teams over the free tier are gated. Data behind the gate is retained, not deleted.
You can cancel at any time. Paid time already begun is not refunded unless we have to by law. We may change prices with notice before the next renewal.
4. Self-hosted licences
A self-hosted licence is a signed file, verified offline, with a seat cap and an expiry. Current list prices: Team $600 / year (up to 25 seats), Scale $1,200 / year (up to 100 seats). Updates are included for the term.
An expired licence does not stop the binary working — it ends the entitlement to updates. Going over the seat cap shows a banner and, after a fourteen-day grace period, gates new seats in the interface. Ingest is never refused because of licence state.
The source is yours to run; the licence is what entitles a deployment of more than a trial to our updates and support. We do not phone home.
5. Acceptable use
Do not:
- Probe, overload or break into the hosted service, except via a coordinated disclosure to hello@getheadroom.co
- Send us content we refuse to store (prompts, source, file paths) by wrapping it as a metric name or attribute
- Use Headroom to build a productivity score or to discipline someone on the basis of lines of code or accept rates — the product is built so that those figures never reach an admin per person, and you agree not to reconstruct them by other means in order to do that
- Resell the hosted service or a licence without a written agreement
6. Our obligations
We will handle hosted data as described in the privacy policy and security page. We will not put Headroom in your request path. We will not add cross-developer productivity leaderboards.
The hosted service is provided as-is. We aim for it to stay up, and we will say so if we cannot, but we do not promise a specific uptime percentage in these terms.
7. Liability
Headroom does not decide what you pay your AI vendors. If a figure is wrong, the remedy is that we correct it — not that we cover a vendor invoice or a seat you bought or cancelled on the back of a recommendation.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited under English law. Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability in any twelve-month period is limited to the fees you paid us in that period (or £100 if you paid nothing).
8. Ending the service
You can delete a hosted team from the console. Ingest keys die at once; remaining data is purged within 24 hours. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or if we stop offering the hosted service — in which case we will give you a chance to export.
9. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that we may seek an injunction anywhere if we have to.
If a court strikes one clause, the rest still apply. We may update these terms; the date at the top is the current version. Material changes to a paying customer will be flagged before they take effect.
